Cocktails with Kate: Yogi Bear

Hello All!  I’ve got a new end of summer, but summer lasts forever in Oklahoma cocktail for you! Plus, we’re reaching prime watermelon season here in Oklahoma, so let’s put that delicious fruit to use.  It’s super easy to make and super easy to drink, so watch out that you don’t put back too many without hydrating!  Also, since this is super easy to make you could easily batch it and take it with you to the lake, cookout, or on a picnic, hence the name!  (OH! Even vodka haters like it, trust me! Just don’t use shitty vodka, go for the middle of the road vodka.)

Yogi Bear

  • 2 ounces of vodka (I like Prairie Wolf, cheap, drinkable, and local!)
  • 1 ounce of fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce of watermelon syrup*

Put all of those items in a shaker with ice and shake the crap out of it.  Strain into your favorite glass, and enjoy!  If you want to garnish it with a lime wheel or cherry, go for it.

*Take equal parts watermelon juice and sugar, bring to a simmer on the stovetop, once the sugar has dissolved you are done! No need to do anything else, it should be good in the fridge for a few weeks.

CHEERS!
