Welcome to the first edition of the Barrels and Mash survey series! We thought it would be fun to to ask some cool people some random questions and take a break from the hard-hitting and award-winning professional journalism that you have come to know and love from us here at Barrels and Mash.
Now that Oklahoma breweries can sell full strength beer directly to the public, chances are that you’ll be seeing more of your favorite local brewers as you visit their respective breweries for pints, growler fills, and brewery-only releases. So, it seemed like a good time to ask some of them a couple of questions so we can get to know them better and maybe arm ourselves with a nice icebreaker or two for when we find ourselves on opposite sides of the bar or wondering around their taprooms.
For this series, we sent 5 Oklahoma brewers the same set of random questions and will be posting them as they come back. Let’s do it!
The Man – Chase Healey
What’s your name, and where do you brew?
Chase Healey, American Solera, and soon at the Prairie Brewpub

Just one. His name is Denver, he is 2.
Which movie is better: Ghost or The Bodyguard?
Bodyguard for sure
When not drinking beer, what is your go-to alcoholic beverage?
Look deep into your heart, do you still consider Pluto a planet? Why or Why not?
I do. It’s crazy, I got my wisdom tooths removed the day it was suggested it isn’t. That’s some hard news to precess when you are drugged up. Did it actually happen?
You know what else is messed up? The Southern Ocean. Who made that one up?
In your opinion, what’s the best beer town in America and why?
I like Fort Collins. I’ve always dreamed of working at New Belgium and doing eccentric team building activities.
Do you have any unreasonable fears?
Of all the beers you have brewed, what is your personal favorite?
Cuvée Three. It’s the beer that opened the door for me.
Of all the actors that have portrayed Batman over the years, which one is YOUR Batman?
What was the first beer you ever brewed?
Healeymeister 2006, I sold it to my friends in college. I still have a bottle.
Do you have anything you want to promote?
Well that was fun. We’ve got 4 brewers to go, and next up will be Will Quinlin from COOP Ale Works. If you have any suggestions on people to survey or questions to ask, feel free to let us know.
